Summer reading post 4

I can give a very good reason why I choose this book out of all of the books on the list, it's because it is in my comfort zone. I don't like reading books that are out of my comfort zone unless I have too. If book isn't about love or the struggle of love or falling in love then I probably won't read it. That's just who I am and what kind of books I like. When I read the back of the book I knew it was a little different than the romance books I usually read but I liked that it was different and I wanted to see if I would like it and I did so that's my reason for choosing it. John Green is was drew my attention to the book, mostly because I know he is a brilliant author and I haven't read anything by him, no not even The Fault in Our Stars, I saw the movie of course and I loved it so I decided to get this book and The Fault in Our Stars but read Looking for Alaska first because it’s on the list. To be honest there weren't a lot of personal connections only because I haven't had a love life like this one and I haven't been in love. I couldn't connect with the main character Pudge only because he is a guy and has a different way of thinking than I do. I think people that are trying to find themselves personally would like this book because it deals with decision making and having patience for someone, so I think a book like this would be good for someone who doesn't know what to do in situations like these or has had their life changed by the love of their life, because the characters in this book are well thought out and life changing if you really get into the book.

A part of the book that got me really hooked was when Pudge says "But I lacked the courage and she had a boyfriend and I was gawky and she was gorgeous and I was hopelessly boring and she was endlessly fascinating. So I walked back to my room and collapsed on the bottom bunk, thinking that if people were rain, I was drizzle and she was a hurricane." This whole paragraph had me wondering why nothing was said, why is Pudge to scared to say anything to Alaska. Does he think that he isn't good enough for her? It made me wonder if Pudge would ever get the courage to say anything to Alaska about how he feels about her or if he will just keep his feeling built up and let everything keep going how it is. And I loved when he said that he was just drizzle and she was a hurricane because he is saying there isn’t a chance for him with her she is so powerful and he is just no one, there are a lot of people that can connect to this personally and understand why it is that he if scared to share his feeling and that he feels so below her.

Summer Reading Post 2

In my book The Lucky One each character has a certain desire, for instance Logan has a desire to speak up about the picture he found and tell her why he is actually there, he has the guts to start falling for her but doesn’t having any to get the truth out. Another desire Beth wants is to not get hurt by guys anymore and just live a happy life with her son Ben, she hopes to find “the one” and wants to have happiness in her life. The theme I think the book has is true love brings happiness out of people. I believe this is the theme because Beth is in an unhappy state of mind because of her brother dying and having a busy business to run and then Logan comes along, he helps everything fall into place and the pieces start to fit, Beth and her family indulge happiness into their life when Logan comes along and it lifts a weight off of Beth’s shoulders. For the structure of the book, the author made each chapter about a different main character, each chapter shows the point of view that character has and how they are feeling about situations and things happening within the book. Everything about this book is well thought out and I happy with the way it is going.

Summer Reading Post 1

The book I am reading currently is The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks. This book is the kind of book I read, I like these book because they are in my comfort zone, even though I should go out of my comfort I like having books that I actually will finish. The major characters in my book are Beth the mom, Logan the strange guy, the son Ben, the grandma Nana and the ex-husband Keith. The characters play a huge role in the book and make the book the way it is and I love the author for doing that. The setting of the book is in Hampton, North Carolina. Another setting is Beth’s house, they are there a lot because Logan gets a job there and the whole family lives there. Also Logan’s house is one of the settings him and Beth go there sometimes and he works on the house to fix it up. For the end the book I am predicting that something bad will happen because usually the whole beginning is good and everything is happy, but then something unexpected happens, so I am preparing myself for that. My question for the author is why he chose to make Logan and the brother related in a way? The book is continuing to impress me and I hope the ending goes well.

English Post 9

I wanted to blog about my favorite chapter so far in my book The Lucky One. My favorite chapter has to be when Beth is talking, because it is the most truthful, and thought out I think. She doesn't know what to think of Logan so far, she is skeptical. I like that she is thinking about it a lot and starting to realize that she does like him a little. She likes the little things he does, like how he calls her Elizabeth instead of Beth, and when he lifts the dog food to carry it into the barn. She realizes he isn't like the others at all, and she likes that about him a lot. I also like how smoothly it flows, if that makes sense. The author didn't make choppy and not understandable, it is simply, and relatable for lots of people. The author I guess takes things slowly and explain little details about Beth, like how she is feeling, how she handling situations. It's the little things in books that make them so good and special.

About My Author

My author is Nicholas Sparks. Im really admiring his books, they all have there own special difference in them. I want to show a video of him that has him talking about the book I'm reading right now The Lucky One. He talks about why he wrote it, and what inspires him. This interview makes me understand him better as an author and I liked all the questions that were asked.
