Best Sellers

I think that I learned that I actually enjoy reading. When I was little I always liked reading childrens books and small chapter book, but when I started to have to read books for English in 7th grade I just got totally bored. I don't like that they choose the book for you, I only liked one book that I had to read and that was The Outsiders. I know what kind of books I like and that’s typically romantic non-fiction books or fiction, so that’s what I go for to read. I think it would be good to start reading other things like mystery or realistic-fiction. I used to read mystery a lot, but romance is really peaceful to read. I’m really in love with the Nicholas Sparks books, because they just seem so real and relatable, but I would like to be introduced to new authors like him, that write romance novels. I had heard of Nicholas Sparks for the longest time, but I thought I wouldn't really understand them until I understood romance. I don't tend to go for super long books like 300 pages is plenty for me, but I really want to read a series that is relatable for girls only and is written by an author I haven't heard of. I hope that by the end of this tri I can find new books and authors I really love, and try to explore past romance even though I will still read that type of genre.

Where The Wild Things Are

I think the book was turned into a movie pretty well. It conveyed everything the book had into a movie with realistic characters and realistic places. I out of opinion didn't like the movie that much, it sure wasn't my favorite and it was kind of weird at some parts. I laughed sometimes to because the main character max looks a lot like my friend Matthew and it was just weird thinking of Matthew being an actor. Anyways the part where Max takes the boat ride to the mysterious island was in the book and it was portrayed well. The part in the book where a forest becomes his room and trees pop up in places did not happen in the movie, it would probably be hard to make that happen but that is one thing that wasn't portrayed in the movie. Otherwise the others parts were nicely laid out and the emotions in the movie were definitely more relatable in the movie. Another part that was conveyed in the movie that was in the book were the animals he meets they all looked exactly the same just more realistic, and the way they act like Carol acts friendly in the movie most of the time like he does in the book. Overall the book was a good kid’s book and little kids should enjoy it, adults too but mainly kids. The book was successful in turning into a movie in many ways. There were just a few things that I didn’t like and that weren’t in the movie that were in the book, but it was pretty good overall I just wasn’t a big fan, it wasn’t much of a movie I would recommend to people or my friends to watch. But it did reflect the book very well and that’s all that matter.

Blog Prompt for English

A text-to-self connection I have with my book is Blister's mom gets a new boyfriend that makes her happy and distractss her from crying all the time about her divorce. Blister on the other hand doesn't really like Frank the new boyfriend but she knows he makes her mom happy and she needs to except that. I can relate to this because my mom got a new boyfriend almost 3 years ago and I was definitly upset about it and I didn't like him at all but I realized that he makes my mom happy and he would do anything for her, so I just excepted that and let it be. I moved on with my teenage life and didn't about my moms any longer.

Another connection that can be made is text-to-text because in this book Blister has a guy bestfriend that goes to her school and they do everything together and tell eachother eveything. I can relate this to the book Troy High that I read in 7th grade, I loved this book and the story it was about, but in the book a girl has a guy bestfriend that goes to her school and they have problems but work them out and they help eachother out when bad things happen.

My favorite book is actually the book I just finished The Best of Me By: Nicholas Sparks. This book was the best book I have ever read in my life, my reason for that are its romance, adventure, lessons, heartbreak, curiousness, shock, love and joy, and decision-making. This book was everything I love and more, I have never read such a well-written book in my life. This book would make a great movie it has so much potential to be #1 in the box office. Some of the other Nicholas Sparks books that have been made into movies I have loved and I think I could add this one to my collection. Nicholas Sparks is such a great other and for his books to be made into movies makes them even better because now they can actually be visualized instead of using imagery while reading. The movies have usually been pretty good with having the same things as the books, there are just little things that have been changed but some of the changes just make it even better. This books quality will make it be such a great movie I would watch it a million times if I could, I also think it will make a lot of money too, especially people that love his other movies and books and people that like romance like me. The audience will enjoy all the different things that happen in this book it really makes me want to read even more I enjoy it so much. If it became a movie it would probably need to be pretty long, my reasoning for that is because the ending is harsh but it needs to show what is happening 2 years later so it comforts the audience more. I cried at least 5 times during the time I read the book, the descriptive details in the book really bring tears to your eyes, and it makes you feel like you can see it all happening right there. I could imagine a lot of the events in the book and the places they were because of the details that are told. Nicholas Sparks really paid attention to helping the reader visualize everything. I also think that the roles for this movie should be actors and actresses known already and are know for this kind of movie. For playing the outgoing and caring women Amanda I think Rachel Mc’adams would be perfect but she was already casted for the notebook, which was a huge bestseller. Another actress that would be good is Reese Witherspoon, an actor for the role of Dawson would be Leonardo DiCaprio or Armie Hammer. This book could be absolutely great as a movie but it could make people made at how long it would be. But to understand everything and to end it well it would need to be long. For me there are some romance movies that I never want them to end they are so good, and I just want to keep watching and watching, if people keep an open mind and really get into the movie I think it will be a success and it will make lots of money. I would love nothing more than have this book made into a movie, I loved every bit of it and hope more people read it.

Vocab in independent reading novel

While i was reading my independent reading novel i noticed a few vocab words that i was unsure what they meant, one is
Indelible the way it is used in my book the definition is- containing indelible substance: containing indelible ink or lead. The quote it is from is "She would have written BLISTER with red indelible marker on the inside of the desk so other kids would know that she had been there.

Another word i was unsure of is
Insinuate the way it is used in my book it means- worm your way in: to introduce yourself gradually and cunningly into a position, especially a place of confidence or favor. The quote it is from is "She didn't like the way Frank Holt insinuated himself into her life, layin a claim on her."

The final word i found that i didn't know was
Knurly the way it is used in my book is means- having knurls or knots; gnarled
